FERAPRO® – the most effective, least constipating, & cleanest oral iron supplement in Canada

– So FERAPRO® is different
from other iron supplements because it is a more holistic approach to treating iron deficiency. We have our non-heme source
of iron as the elemental iron but in addition to that
we also have Vitamin C that really helps with
absorption of non-heme iron. We have Glycine which
binds to the iron in a way that makes it less likely to
cause nausea and constipation. We have our active forms of B vitamins, so B12 and Folate, that’s really essential for building red blood cells. And altogether it’s a better tolerated and more effective way to treat anemia. (upbeat whistling music) FERAPRO® comes in three
different strengths. We have 30 mg, 75 mg, and 150 mg. This is because different people have different iron requirements. So for people who actually
have iron deficiency anemia we aim to treat with elemental iron between 100 and 200 mg per day, that’s where the highest dose,
the 150 mg, comes in to play. For people who have
extra sensitive stomachs, who have a history of being
intolerant to iron supplements we made the 75 mg so that
it’d be a good place to start and titrate up in a way where
their body gets used to it and then they can tolerate the iron. And then the 30 mg are
for people who may not be actively deficient but who
have a history of deficiency and want to take it preventatively either once in a while or every other day to prevent iron deficiency. Pregnancy is one of those cases where the requirements
for iron will often go up because we’re making so
much more red blood cells. So it is very, very much safe
and often times recommended to take an iron supplement based on where your iron levels are at. And FERAPRO® was actually
especially designed to treat iron deficiency in pregnancy. The original formula was formulated between Bob Mehr and a midwife who was having a hard time
finding an appropriate supplement for her pregnant patients. And so FERAPRO® in its
very conception was made for pregnant women and it
continues to be a mainstay of therapy for pregnancy
associated iron deficiency. FERAPRO® should be taken with a meal, ideally away from all of
your other multivitamins, supplements, as well as and
most importantly medications. Iron can inhibit the
absorption of a lot of things when taken together with other things so on its own is best. And food can often help alleviate
some of the side effects of iron therapy if they do
come up, such as nausea. FERAPRO® was created with
people on a vegan diet in mind. A lot of people who are on a vegan diet are not able to meet
their iron requirements because they’re not able
to take animal sourced iron which is better absorbed. So we’ve crafted FERAPRO® to
be most definitely appropriate for vegan diets. There is no animal sourced
ingredients in the product and in fact it has the
iron as well as the B12 which are often lower in
people who follow a vegan diet. FERAPRO® is as clean of a formula as we could possibly have made it. We have taken out all
of the common allergens like soy, dairy, corn and wheat, and it’s also free of
preservatives and dyes.
