Heart Attack Pt.3 / Lifestyle Measures / Dr. Vipin Gupta

In last two episodes,
we tried to understand, what and why of heart attack, and why are there questions
on its medical treatments. Today we will share 5
such lifestyle principles, which will make your
heart happy, clean, strong and
I would say become bigger. You will get a good prevention
from Heart Attack, and cardiac blockades
will disappear. But before talking about
these measures, I would like to
talk about some basics, We should understand 2
basic cardiovascular parameters, which are BP and Pulse, First let’s talk about BP, 120/80 BP is considered
good and normal. 120 – systolic
and 80 diastolic. But in my view,
if we keep it even lower, like 110/70, or slightly lower, then it would be better
for cardiovascular health. Pulse is a very important
parameter to understand
cardiovascular health. and its beauty is that
you can self-measure it. Put 2-3 finger on your wrist and start listening to count,
you will know the pulse. Pulse alone tells much
about heart health. Heart is a pump, so it needs to repeatedly
contract and expand, to send blood
all over your body, If your heart is strong, clean and big, it will have to do less contractions. But if your heart muscles
are weak, and there are some
blockades, then it will have to pump
more times, So the higher is
your pulse, it indicates higher
compromise of heart. Pulse value of 72 is considered
normal but if you keep it between
60-65, it is even better, marathon runners and good
sports-persons can have pulse lower than 45, So check pulse yourself,
and it is good to keep it between 60-65. Now let us talk about
lifestyle principle, First Principle is Body appearance, it means your body shape we need to seriously
change our attitude about this, Traditionally, we consider being
slightly obese and fair very good. and this has been a feeling
in our mind to be to be slightly fat and fair But for health health,
this body shape is not good. For Hearth health,
if you want to understand body appearance,
then put a poster of Gandhi Ji or Vinoba Ji. And that picture in which,
Vinoba is typing in squat position
is very inspiring. If you follow that,
you will get good posture and
good body appearance. The best body appearance
for hearth health is that to be lean, flat tummy,
slender cheeks, and Wheatish (tanned) color. That is good body appearance. If you are fair and have a belly,
a little fat, then consider that if checked
you will find a 60-70% blockade in heart. So understand this(tummy) needs to be flat
and this(cheek) to be slightly inside. Second principle is sunlight, For heart health, sunlight works like magic. If you remember, when I talked
about causes of heart attack, I share 3 causes,
First was Arterial spasm, Second was Arterial
calcification, and third was cholesterol plaque. Sunlight works in all
the 3 ways. When you go under sunlight, it is a very strong anti-depressant,
it removes stress. Due to stress reduction,
chances of arterial spasms, become
negligible. Another magic that sunlight does
is converting cholesterol into Vitamin D. If your Vitamin D level is poor, calcium from bones will come
into heart and arteries, which is called
Arterial Calcification. Which increases the chances
of heart attack significantly. So this has
double benefit. One, cholesterol will reduce,
and second, Vitamin D will increase. It will help in reducing
cholesterol plaque, and also prevent
Arterial Calcification. So sunlight has tremendous benefits
and works in all 3 ways. The proper way of taking sunlight,
is doing sun bath. Sunbath means lying down
by taking almost all clothes. 15-20 minutes everyday is enough. If you are in such a
place, where clothes cannot be taken off, Then stay outdoors for longer time,
like 2-3 hours, in lighter clothes,
that will also work. My third principle is
Autophagy. Autophagy is a tremendous method,
which got Nobel Prize to a Japanese scientist.
(Yoshinara Ohsumi) There is need to understand this. The literal meaning of autophagy
is self eating, After going in this mode,
body starts eating itself. What does it eat?
All the undesirable things in the body, It eats the waste, fats, bad cells etc. Along that it makes
useful new things. So two things happen together,
waste removal and speedy repair. So if we keep our body in Autophagy
mode for sometime, so whatever cardiac blockades
you have, all will be removed,
because body will consider, it’s useless to block there
and it will remove them. Second miracle body can do is that,
if it feels blockade can’t be removed, it will go into repair mode. In repair mode,
it will form a new artery. What is needful is
to put it in Autophagy mode. Now understand how body goes in
Autophagy mode, So if we don’t eat food, after 2 days our body
goes in Autophagy mode. so if we do atleast 3 day fast, then we get
1 day of Autophagy. So we should do a 72 hours fast. If you want to take deeper
benefit of Autophagy, then you could do a fast
of 5, 7 or 9 days. One warning, if you are taking
any medication, then do this only under
medical supervision, If you are not taking any medicines,
then you can begin with 3 days. Fourth principle is workout, No human or animal can
stay healthy without doing work, all are muscles become
stronger with use, heart is also a muscle,
do the more you use it, the more stronger it will become. So workout is needed. So I would want to explain
that workout should be real, Gym, yoga, jogging or exercises
are not real workouts, Workout means some
work should come out of it. if no work comes out,
then how is it workout? So we should do some
real work, And I have spent 2-3 years
thinking what can be real workout
for urban people. Rural people have many options,
like in the farm and
they can have good workout, But cities have a big problem
with workouts, And after 2-3 years of research
and self-experimentation, that there is no better workout
in city than cleaning. So do sweeping and mopping
of your house for 1-2 hours, you will get really
good cardiac health. it will be a whole
body toneup, Now let’s assume
you have many members in family, and more cardiac patients, and there is less space,
i would suggest, don’t be shy,
go and do your neighbour’s home. This will improve your body
and your relations. You heart will also expand. The fifth principle,
the last one, which you might have been
waiting for, What to EAT? I made one reference to food earlier,
when I talked about causes
of heart attack. The main reason behind heart attack
and cholesterol plaques is inflammatory food. So we have to escape
from inflammatory food. No.1 in inflammatory food is
sugar, Everytime I talk about sugar,
jaggery and honey are included in that. Wheat is also inflammatory
so we need to reduce it. Third is milk,
so we need to reduce that, and fourth is oil, especially
soyabean oil, we should stop using it. Another inflammatory situation
is created when you take oil to high temperature, heat it in kadai (wok), when you make samosas,
kachoris, jalebis or other deep friend stuff. For robust heart health,
remove kadai from your home. Never take oil to
high temperature. Then it becomes very oxidizing,
inflammatory and carcinogenic. Cold oil will not create problem,
but hot oil is has many issues, so eliminate kadai from
you home, So now you have seen all three
episodes, if you haven’t then
watch previous two also, We need to understand that
Heart health is a big problem, India has around 100 million
heart patients, India is World No.1
in Heart Attacks, We don’t need to be
No.1 in such things, We have also understood, how big are problems
with medicines and surgeries. So the 5 principles I have shared, We need to understand body shape
and appearance well, and end attraction to
fair and fat body. Second, we understand
the value of sunlight,
it has many benefits. Third we understand Autophagy,
begin from 3 day fast, Fourth, do real workout,
only that will bring content to heart, Fifth, take less
inflammatory food, then our heart health
will be robust & in good shape.
