Surviving a major heart attack – Tommy’s Story

– September 25th of last year, my daughter took me to the emergency room at Brandon Regional Hospital. They asked us to have a seat, and we went over and sat down and that was the last thing I remembered. (light instrumental music) From what I understand, I
had a major heart attack. – To walk in with your father, the person that you idolize, the person that takes care of you, not realizing that as I sat
there next to him waiting that he’d have a massive heart attack right there in the ER. – They took me into
the back and shocked me and brought me back to life. They shocked me a total of 18 times. I died three times. When I woke up in intensive care, that’s when they told me
they did not give up on me. They put a stint in, opened it back up. Six months later, I’m here
with my grandsons fishing. I work on the old cars. I ride my motorcycles. I do the things that I did
prior to the heart attack. – [Daughter] How do you thank someone for saving someone that you love? For saving their life. I wouldn’t have my dad here today. My boys wouldn’t have their
grandfather here today. And it’s because of the staff
at Brandon Regional Hospital. – I can’t say how thankful I am to everybody that worked
on me to save my life. (light instrumental music)
